Galeria Presidente Rua 24 de Maio, 116, São Paulo — Sept 2–9, 2024

We are building a living, global archive of the African diaspora—and this mall is one of its vital sites.

Galeria Presidente — known to many as Galeria do Reggae or Galeria Black — has long been a hub of Afro-diasporic worldbuilding in the neighborhood of República, São Paulo. This archive invites everyone connected to the Galeria—shoppers, workers, neighbors, travelers, elders, newcomers — to contribute to the memory and future of this place.

We are looking for materials of all kinds:

— Personal stories or reflections

— Photographs, home videos, or voice recordings

— Objects, garments, or heirlooms

— Flyers, posters, receipts, or menus

— Poems, songs, or artwork

— Memories you carry or moments you witnessed

If it speaks to your connection to the Galeria, to your roots, your journey, your kin—then it belongs here.

Your contribution will help shape a collective portrait of diasporic life — an archive rooted not in institutions, but in people and place. Selected materials may be featured as part of the Black: Cite; Sight–Site exhibition (Sept 2–9), or preserved for future activations in other cities.

How to Contribute

We welcome submissions in person during the exhibition dates, or by email in advance. Languages accepted: Portuguese, Spanish, English, French, Arabic.
